Das Songwriter-Team Sam H. Stept (1897–1964) und Bud Green (1897–1981) schrieb “That’s My Weakness Now” für eine Revue im New Yorker Paramount Theatre, in der Helen Kane den Song vorstellte. Der Song machte Helen Kane, die Sängerin mit der piepsigen Stimme, landesweit bekannt. Sie fügte den Strophen noch einige “boop-boop-a-doops” hinzu, worauf sie fortan den Spitznamen “The Boop-Boop-a-Doop Girl” hatte. Kanes Aufnahme des Songs war die erfolgreichste Version des Songs und stieg 1928 auf Platz 5 der US-Charts.
Frank Sinatra sang "That's My Weakness Now" am 07.05.1947 mit Bob Hope in der Radiosendung "Songs By Sinatra" als Parody.

The songwriting duo, Sam H. Stept (1897-1964) and Bud Green (1897-1981), crafted "That's My Weakness Now" for a revue at New York's Paramount Theater. It was here that Helen Kane, the singer with the distinctive high-pitched voice, first performed the song. Her rendition, complete with her signature "boop-boop-a-doops" added to the verses, catapulted her to nationwide fame and earned her the moniker "The Boop-Boop-a-Doop Girl". Kane's recording of the song was the most popular version, reaching number 5 on the US charts in 1928.
Frank Sinatra performed "That's My Weakness Now" as a parody with Bob Hope on his radio show "Songs By Sinatra" on May 7, 1947.
