“Singing in the Rain” wurde mit Texten von Arthur Freed und Musik von Nacio Herb Brown für die Broadway-Revue “The Hollywood Music Box Revue” im Jahr 1929 geschrieben und dort von Doris Eaton Travis gesungen. Das Lied ist heute am bekanntesten als Mittelpunkt des Musikfilms “Singin’ in the Rain” (1952), in dem Gene Kelly das Lied unvergesslich tanzte, während er durch Pfützen während eines Regensturms spritzte. Das Lied wird auch während der Eröffnungscredits des Films aufgeführt und kurz vor dem Ende des Films von Debbie Reynolds gesungen. "Singing in the Rain" is a song that was penned with lyrics by Arthur Freed and music by Nacio Herb Brown for the Broadway revue "The Hollywood Music Box Revue" in 1929. It was performed by Doris Eaton Travis. Today, the song is most recognized as the focal point of the 1952 musical film "Singin' in the Rain". In a memorable scene, Gene Kelly dances to the song, splashing through puddles during a rainstorm. The song is also featured during the film's opening credits and is sung by Debbie Reynolds towards the end of the film. In 2004, the American Film Institute ranked the song third on its list of the 100 greatest American film songs.
