"Show Me the Way to Go Home" is a song penned in 1925 by the English songwriting duo Jimmy Campbell and Reg Connelly, who used the pseudonym "Irving King". The song is said to have been composed during a train journey from London by Campbell and Connelly. They were weary from the trip and had indulged in a few alcoholic beverages, which inspired the lyrics of the song. Campbell and Connelly self-published the sheet music, marking their first major success. The song sold 2 million copies, providing the financial foundation for their publishing company, Campbell, Connelly & Co.
Frank Sinatra performed "Show Me the Way to Go Home" on his radio program, "Songs By Sinatra", on September 26, 1945. It was part of a medley that also included "Yankee Doodle Dandy", "Red Sails In The Sunset", "Where Do I Go From Here?", and "Three O' Clock In The Morning", featuring The Pied Pipers.
