“Only Forever” ist ein Lied, das 1940 von Johnny Burke (Text) und James V. Monaco (Musik) für den Film “Rhythm on the River” geschrieben wurde. Ursprünglich war es für den Film “If I Had My Way” vorgesehen, wurde aber schließlich in Crosbys nächstem Filmprojekt, “Rhythm on the River”, verwendet. Das Lied wurde von Bing Crosby aufgenommen und erreichte am 19. Oktober 1940 die Nummer eins der Billboard-Charts, wo es neun Wochen lang blieb. Insgesamt verbrachte es 20 Wochen in den Charts. Für “Only Forever” erhielten Monaco und Burke eine Oscar-Nominierung in der Kategorie "Bester Originalsong".

"Only Forever" is a song composed in 1940 by Johnny Burke (lyricist) and James V. Monaco (composer) for the film "Rhythm on the River". Initially intended for the film "If I Had My Way", the song was ultimately featured in Bing Crosby's subsequent film project, "Rhythm on the River". Bing Crosby's rendition of the song climbed to the top of the Billboard charts on October 19, 1940, where it remained for nine weeks, spending a total of 20 weeks on the charts. The song earned Monaco and Burke an Oscar nomination for "Best Original Song".
Frank Sinatra performed "Only Forever" twice on the radio, accompanied by Tommy Dorsey & His Orchestra. The recording from October 17, 1940, titled "Fame And Fortune", is included in the collection "Tommy Dorsey and Frank Sinatra: The Song is You".
